Presented here is a 7 ¾ x 9 7/8-inch black and white photograph of Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle, along with four other members of the 1952 American League All-Star Team taken by renowned photographer Don Wingfield circa 1960’s. Wingfield was the famed New York Yankee photographer, working for the Bronx Bombers as well as The Sporting News, the Washington Senators and the Topps Company. He also free-lanced work for national magazines such as LIFE and LOOK. His friendly nature and true professionalism endeared him to many players, who many years later would speak fondly of. This photograph shows (from left to right) Ferris Fain, Al Rosen, Dom DiMaggio, Jackie Jensen and Mickey Mantle what appears to be prior to the 1952 All-Star Game at Shibe Park in Philadelphia – Mantle’s first All-Star Game selection. All of the players are in their road uniforms and all holding bats that meet in the center while looking off-camera to their right. The back of this photo has a “PHOTO BY DON WINGFIELD” stamp when he was based out of Alexandria, Virginia and other markings. There are pin holes and tape marks on each corner, while the upper left corner an extra pin hole. The photo also displays edge wear and other markings. This comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1P16127) and has been classified as a Type I photo.
