Presented here is a 7 7/8 x 10-inch black and white photograph of Hall of Famers Stan Musial and Mickey Mantle taken by renowned photographer Don Wingfield circa 1960’s. Wingfield was the famed New York Yankee photographer, working for the Bronx Bombers as well as The Sporting News, the Washington Senators and the Topps Company. He also free-lanced work for national magazines such as LIFE and LOOK. His friendly nature and true professionalism endeared him to many players, who many years later would speak fondly of. This photograph shows both Musial and Mantle decked out in their respective uniforms in what appears to be prior to the 1960 All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium (the second of two All-Star Games played in 1960). Musial is on the left in his road Cardinals’ uniform while Mantle is on the right in his home Yankees pinstriped uniform, both holding bats over their shoulders. Both greats are looking slightly off-camera to their left and smiling, with the background having the famed Yankee Stadium façade in the background with bunting on the mid-level stands. The back of this photo has a “PHOTO BY DON WINGFIELD” stamp when he was based out of Alexandria, Virginia and other markings. There are two pin holes and tape marks on each corner, while the lower left corner has a slight tear. The photo also displays edge wear and other markings. This comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1P16124) and has been classified as a Type I photo.
