The late Hector “Macho” Camacho was as known for his flamboyant style and vociferous self-promotion as he was known for his quickness and skill in the ring, wore this presented warm up shark jacket during his fight against Troy Lowry on February 3rd, 2001 at the Level Nightclub in South Beach, Miami. The fight was dubbed “Mucho Macho Madness” also featured Camacho’s son, Hector Camacho Jr., on the card. Camacho, who once was a world champion in three separate weight classes and held the WBC super featherweight title from 1983-1984, faced off against Lowry, defeating the boxer in 10 rounds. This presented warm-up jacket is purple with teal sleeves and features a purple zipper. The hood features white draw strings and the material is similar to the same material used in windbreakers. “HECTOR” appears diagonally across the right chest of the jacket in black tackle twill. “CAMACHO” appears across the bottom back of the jersey in black tackle twill on a metallic purple sewn-on nameplate. A seafoam green and teal tackle twill shark with a googly eye rests on beige tackle twill backing. A stain appears on one of the white draw strings connected to the hood. A sterling commemorative to one of boxing’s most interesting and dynamic pugilists, the item comes directly from one of Camacho’s former managers with a corresponding letter of provenance that will be included.
