Magic and Larry. Undeniably, these two basketball legends will forever be tied to one another, forming one of the greatest rivalries in the history of sports, a rivalry that began when Michigan State – led by Johnson that defeated Bird’s Indiana State in the 1979 NCAA title game. Their one-on-one battles would dominate the NBA for the next decade, as the Lakers and Celtics combined to win an amazing eight championships during the 1980s. Johnson and Bird would later become teammates on the 1992 United States Olympic Dream Team. Presented here is a 16 x 20 photograph of Larry Bird and Magic Johnson and Bird’s number retirement ceremony at the old Boston Garden. Both greats share a laugh as Bird is decked out in his white Celtics warmup suit, while Magic has donned a home Lakers yellow warmup suit. This photo captures the moment when Magic surprised Bird by revealing an undershirt he is wearing with “BOSTON CELTICS” and their famous leprechaun logo. Both Hall of Famers have signed their names in silver marker. This comes with a COA from Beckett Authentication (K03220) for the signatures.
