Offered is a 1958 Kent State game ball trophy presented to Lou Holtz. The Hall of Fame College Football head coach played two seasons on the Kent State varsity football team, as a linebacker, before graduating in 1959. The trophy consists of a vintage brown pebbled leather MacGregor football featuring multiple signatures of Golden Flashes players in black pen on three of the four panels. The football is embossed on one panel with the MacGregor logo in black, and on another side with the caption "X7 The Bomb" also embossed in black. The football is mounted atop a gold metal Voit kicking tee, which is itself mounted atop xx x xx x xx-inch brown wood base. On the front of the brown wood base is a xx x xx-inch gold metal plaque engraved with the legend "1958 KENT STATE UNIVERSITY-30 UNIVERSITY OF TOLEDO 0 GAME BALL PRESENTED TO PLAYER LOUIS HOLTZ BY THE KENT STATE FOOTBALL TEAM". The '58 Golden Flashes finished with a 7-2 overall record, 5-1 in the Mid-America Conference. This item comes with a LOA from Lou Holtz, and 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of this item will benefit the Holtz Charitable Foundation, Inc.
