Offered is the 1972 The Sportsman's Guide ACC Coach of the Year plaque presented to Lou Holtz. The xx x xx-inch bronze-colored and gold metal with brown wood award features a bronze-colored football player running with the ball at the top center against a black background. Below the figure is a xx x xx-inch bronze-colored metal plate engraved with the caption "THE SPORTSMAN'S GUIDE ACC COACH OF THE YEAR 1972 LOU HOLTZ N.C. STATE UNIVERSITY". After a successful two-season start to his collegiate head coaching career at William & Mary, in 1972 Holtz moved to North Carolina State University and had a 33–12–3 record in four seasons. His first three teams achieved final Top 20 rankings, including a final Top 10 finish in the 1974 Coaches Poll. His 1973 team won the ACC Championship. His Wolfpack teams played in four bowl games, going 2–1–1. This item comes with a LOA from Lou Holtz, and 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of this item will benefit the Holtz Charitable Foundation, Inc.
