Offered is a 1978 Eighth Annual Fiesta Bowl plaque gifted to Hall of Fame college football coaching legend Lou Holtz. The xx x xx-inch brown wood plaque features a silver and black metal award at the center, which includes the Fiesta Bowl logo in orange and silver. The legend on the plaque, engraved in silver, reads "EIGHTH ANNUAL FIESTA BOWL UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS VS. U.C.L.A. TEMPE, ARIZONA - DECEMBER 25, 1978 LOU HOLTZ ARKANSAS - HEAD COACH". At the bottom center is an engraved black and white photograph of Holtz in a white polo shirt. The third of four consecutive Fiesta Bowls played on Christmas day, the 1978 Fiesta Bowl was the eighth edition of the college football bowl game, played at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona on Monday, December 25. Part of the 1978–79 bowl game season, it matched the eighth-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks of the Southwest Conference (SWC), and the #15 UCLA Bruins from the Pacific-10 Conference (Pac-10). The game ended in a 10–10 tie before 55,227 spectators. This item comes with a LOA from Lou Holtz, and 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of this item will benefit the Holtz Charitable Foundation, Inc.
