Presented is a 1990 award from the Knights of Columbus Council 4361 of Mingo Junction, Ohio, recognizing Outstanding Accomplishments, presented to coach Lou Holtz and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame football program. The award includes a brown wood plaque with a blue and gold metal plate bearing the engraved legend "TO COACH LOU HOLTZ AND THE FIGHTING IRISH OF NOTRE DAME In Recognition Of Your Outstanding Accomplishments And Dedication To Excellence. From The Knights Of Columbus Council 4361 Mingo Jct., Ohio February 11, 1990". At the upper left corner of the metal plate is mounted a gold, white, red and blue enamel logo of the Knights of Columbus set inside a gold metal wreath. Holtz coached 132 games in 11 seasons (1985-1996) at Notre Dame and guided his teams to an overall record of 100-32-2 as he holds the Irish record for most games coached and is second to Knute Rockne in total victories. This item comes with a LOA from Lou Holtz, and 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of this item will benefit the Holtz Charitable Foundation, Inc.
