Offered is a 1988 Cotton Bowl Classic plaque gifted to Hall of Fame college football coach Lou Holtz. The blonde wood plaque features the image of the Cotton Bowl stadium in Dallas, Texas carved at the left center of the plaque, below the carved logo of the Cotton Bowl Classic in the upper left corner. The cotton "boll" is painted white. At the right side is mounted a color photograph of Holtz, wearing his white Notre Dame coaching shirt against a blue sky background. Across the bottom of the plaque is carved the caption "JANUARY 1, 1988 - DALLAS". The carved Cotton Bowl stadium and the legend are etched in brown. The capper to the 1987 college football season was played in front of 73,006 people, with Texas A&M beating Notre Dame 35-10. This item comes with a LOA from Lou Holtz, and 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of this item will benefit the Holtz Charitable Foundation, Inc.
