Offered is a 1981 Gator Bowl Classic plaque presented to Hall of Fame college football coach Lou Holtz. The brown wood plaque features a silver metal plate at the center, etched in red with the cartoon figure of the Gator Bowl mascot "gator" in a football jersey and helmet kicking a football. Above the cartoon is the caption "GATOR BOWL CLASSIC", while below the figure is the legend "UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS VS NORTH CAROLINA JACKSONVILLE, FLA DECEMBER 28, 1981". At the bottom center is the caption, engraved in white "Lou Holtz Head Coach". Holtz, then the head coach at Arkansas, guided the Razorbacks to an 8-2 record and to their fifth straight bowl appearance, but lost the '81 Gator Bowl to North Carolina, 31-27. This item comes with a LOA from Lou Holtz, and 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of this item will benefit the Holtz Charitable Foundation, Inc.
