Presented is an original 1976 painting by Pro and College Football Hall of Famer Tommy McDonald of college coach Lou Holtz, presented to Holtz as an award from the Touchdown Club of America. The 23 x 27-inch color oil painting depicts Holtz in a black sport coat, white shirt and red tie, standing at a podium with multiple microphones in the foreground, while Holtz holds a football in his upraised right hand. At the lower center of the framed display is mounted a gold metal plaque engraved with the legend "LOU HOLTZ 1976 ANNUAL AWARD FROM THE TOUCHDOWN CLUB OF AMERICA APRIL 30, 1976". The artist and former Philadelphia Eagles/NFL legend has signed his name in orange paint "T. McDonald" in the lower right corner of the painting. The painting is mounted in a ivory cloth matte with gold wood frame and accents. Earlier, in February 1976, Holtz left his coaching job at North Carolina State to accept the New York Jets head coaching job. This item comes with a LOA from Lou Holtz, and 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of this item will benefit the Holtz Charitable Foundation, Inc.
