Presented is a commemorative Japanese katana and bokken gifted to legendary college football coach Lou Holtz in 2009. In July, 2009, the former Fighting Irish head coach led Notre Dame onto the field for one last game, coaching a team of past Irish players in the Notre Dame Japan Bowl at the Tokyo Dome. Led by MVP Jay Vickers (‘00), the Fighting Irish Legends won, 19-3 against a team of Japan American Football Association players in the game celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Japan American Football Association. The katana (or sword) has a carved black handle and steel blade in a black shell scabbard, while the wooden "bokken" is carved in the shape of a sword. Both are displayed on a black enamel stand. This item comes with a LOA from Lou Holtz, and 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of this item will benefit the Holtz Charitable Foundation, Inc.
