Offered is a 1989 American Football Coaches Association award presented to University of Notre Dame football head coach Lou Holtz and his staff. The brown wood plaque features a bronze colored metal plaque at the top center with the logo of "The American Football Coaches Association Founded 1922" engraved with the figure of a coach standing behind a kneeling football player, pointing towards a field. Below the logo plate is a black metal plaque etched in gold with the caption "1989 INDEPENDENT Ranked in Top 10 NCAA Division I-A University of Notre Dame". At the lower center is another black metal plate etched in gold with the caption "The AMERICAN FOOTBALL COACHES ASSOCIATION Congratulates LOU HOLTZ and His Staff Presented by the Gerrits/Pepsi-Cola Foundation". The Fightinng Irish finished the 1989 season 12-1, winning the Orange Bowl with a 21-6 victory over Colorado, and ranked #2 by the Associated Press. This item comes with a LOA from Lou Holtz, and 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of this item will benefit the Holtz Charitable Foundation, Inc.
