Offered is a 1989 Touchdown Club of Washington, D.C. Timmie Award for NCAA Division IA presented to the University of Notre Dame, from the collection of coach Lou Holtz. The Balfour trophy incorporates a pewter sculpture at the top of a young boy in old-fashioned football gear running with the ball, mounted on a xx x xx x xx-inch black wood base. On the front of the base is a pewter football-shaped logo of the "Touchdown Club of Washington, D.C." and a small banner with the legend "Timmie Award". Below that, is a silver metal plate engraved in black with the caption "NCAA Division IA Award 1989 Presented in Memory of Arthur J. (Dutch) Bergman". At the lower base is a second silver metal plate engraved in black with the caption "Notre Dame". Holtz's 1989 Fighting Irish team finished with a 12-1 record, ranked #2 in the Associated Press poll, and won the Orange Bowl over Colorado, 21-6. This item comes with a LOA from Lou Holtz, and 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of this item will benefit the Holtz Charitable Foundation, Inc.
