Presented here is a 1944-era United States postage stamp signed by the legendary hitter and inaugural 1936 Hall of Fame class member Ty Cobb. Cobb was one of the greatest baseball players of the dead ball era, utilizing an aggressive, flashy style of play to great effect. “The Georgia Peach” accumulated 4,189 hits, more than all but one player in history, and an impressive 117 home runs in an era devoid of power. Cobb’s .366 batting average is the highest of all time, and the slim outfielder hit over .400 thrice in his career. Cobb signed his name in his trademark green pen on the front of this 1 ½ x 1 ¼-inch stamp with a picture of the Korean flag. Cobb’s signature is bold and has been given the highest possible grade of “10” by Beckett Authentication.
