Walter Payton was the NFL’s leading rusher at the time of his retirement, rushing for 16,726 yards, while scoring 125 touchdowns during his legendary 13-season career. A member of the Super Bowl XX winning Bears team, Payton won the 1977 NFL MVP trophy and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1993. Presented in this lot are two signed items by Walter Payton. The first item is a size XL road white mesh Chicago Bears jersey with his number “34” sewn on the front, back and sleeves in navy and orange tackle twill. “PAYTON” is sewn on in navy and orange tackle twill on a matching white nameplate on the back. Below the number on the back of the jersey is Payton’s career stats that are embroidered in navy stitching which read “Walter Payton “Sweetness” Hall of Fame 1993 16,726 Career Rushing Yards 125 Career TD’s 1977 NFL MVP 9 Time Pro Bowler Limited Edition #/34”. Payton has signed his name on the “4” on the back in silver marker and inscribed “Sweetness”, along with “16,726”. This comes with a LOA from Beckett Authentication. The next item is a Bears navy wool cap with an orange brim that has “CHICAGO” embroidered in white and “Bears” embroidered in orange and white on the front. The NFL shield logo is embroidered on the right side and Payton has signed this hat in black marker on the orange top brim. This comes with a LOA from Beckett Authentication.
