Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA, one of fewer than fifty copies validated across all levels by that company. During the height of the 1880's pastime of filling "Victorian Scrapbooks," a number of creative manufacturers (primarily in England) supplied groups of glossy-colored, die-cut figures that could suitably enhance the scrapbooks' interior decor. Those printers' efforts included a set of ten delicate, generic baseball figures. The designs acknowledged big-league teams, but not individually named players, and the majority were promptly destroyed in handling or by adhesives. Offered here is a beautifully well-preserved "Philadelphia" example, an ideal representative of its carefully made, visually charming production. Near Mint to Mint condition.
