Johnny Bench was arguably the greatest all around catcher in baseball history, leader of the 1970s Big Red Machine, Rookie of the Year in 1968 and winner of the 1970 and 1972 National League Most Valuable Player awards. Based upon factory records, and player use characteristics, it was during his late career 1979 season Bench used this 34.5 inch, 31.1 ounce, Louisville Slugger R43 model bat. This severely cracked club exhibits excellent use with ball and stitch marks on the barrel, red and green rack marks and a light coat of pine tar on the handle, with a piece of the cracked area missing. All factory burn stampings are dark and about as perfect as can be applied. On the sweet spot is a blue Sharpie "Johnny Bench" signature. If you are looking for the quintessential perfect Johnny Bench Cincinnati Reds bat, you have found it with this example. Full LOA from PSA/DNA, cert number 1B07265 for the bat, and LOA from PSA/DNA for the signature.
