Suffering from the side effects of chemotherapy and stem cell treatment for multiple myeloma blood cancer; long time New York Yankees pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre still made the cross country flight to New York. All the way from his Washington State home to be with his old teammates and New York Yankees alumni for the team’s Old Timers Day on June 23, 2013. Stottlemyre signed both pieces of this New York Yankees pinstriped home uniform which he wore that day in bold blue sharpie. Stottlemyre’s signature appears below the waistband on the left front hip of the pants. “#30 Stottlemyre 36-38 32 ’12 OT” is printed on the MLB Authentic/Majestic manufacturers label on the interior waistband and the pants have satin lined back pockets. Stottlemyre’s number 30 is stitched on the back of the size-48 matching jersey in navy tackle twill with the Yankees iconic interlocking NY logo on the front in the same fashion. Stottlemyre signed the jersey in bold blue sharpie with an “Old Timers Day 2012” inscription just above the MLB Authentic/Majestic manufacturers label with “2013” and size “48” flag tags on the left front tail. Signature is PSA/DNA pre-certified and jersey comes with LOAs from Mel Stottlemyre and noted sports jersey expert Dave Miedema.
