Offered is a group of 1928 to1942 assorted, original Babe Ruth tax and other legal documents, including Ruth's New York state tax return from 1932. The unsigned documents include: a yellow paper document for "Geo. H. Ruth" headlined "New York State Tax Return Summary and Letter of Transmittal" for 1932; a document addressed to "Mr. George H. Ruth" on the letterhead of "The Bank of Manhattan Company" dated January 23, 1941, revealing his responsibilty for New York state taxes on his accounts; a 1935 tax return document for Claire Ruth from Geo. H. Ruth; an April 12, 1935 typewritten letter to Ruth from the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance; a typewritten February 20, 1928 letter from the Internal Revenue Service to Ruth in care of the Christy Walsh Syndicate; and three separate typewritten documents dated June 25, 1942 in which Ruth and his representatives protest his tax assessments. The Hall of Fame New York Yankees slugger played 22 seasons of Major League Baseball from 1914 through 1935. After his retirement, Ruth's income was limited to his savings, as well as his endorsements and public appearances. Ruth died in 1948.
