Encapsulated and graded 9.8 with “White Pages” by CGC. The world of comics is replete with iconic books, but few are as iconic as “Amazing Spider-Man” #129, released in February 1974. The Gerry Conway story features the debut of The Punisher, hired by The Jackal to assassinate Spider-Man. Though he began his turn in comics as an adversary to Spider-Man, The Punisher would become one of the most famous antiheroes prevalent in Marvel Comics from the 1970s to the early 1990s. The Punisher was co-created by writer Gerry Conway and artists John Romita Sr. and Ross Andru. The iconic cover featuring Spider-Man in the crosshairs of The Punisher was illustrated by Gil Kane and John Romita Sr., with the story art illustrated by Ross Andru, Frank Giacoia, and Dave Hunt.
The Punisher's willingness to kill and his wanton use of violence was a radical departure for most superheroes. The Punisher's brooding nature and willingness to let Spider-Man live after finding out they both were set up for murder by The Jackal was well received by both fans and critics alike, so much that this issue is considered a "Holy Grail" by comic collectors. According to CGC's census report, no copies have achieved a higher grade, making this issue of "Amazing Spider-Man" #129 with the grade of 9.8 and "White Pages" all the more desirable and rare by collectors.
