Encapsulated and graded 6.0 with a “First-Party H-Seam” seal rating of B by WATA Games. Offered here is a sealed and graded copy of “Donkey Kong” developed by Nintendo and released on the Nintendo Entertainment System on June 1, 1986. The game is a port of the popular arcade game that Nintendo developed in an effort to counter the meteoric rise of “Pac-Man” to give Nintendo a foothold in the lucrative North American market. The plan worked, and “Donkey Kong” helped establish market dominance for Nintendo from its release till the early 1990s. Designed by the legendary Shigeru Miyamoto and Gunpei Yokoi, the platform game is historical for being one of the first examples of the platform game genre and introducing Donkey Kong and Mario to the video game world in particular and popular culture in general. Mario has become the mascot of Nintendo, and arguably, the face of video gaming, while Donkey Kong has become a loveable character with his own franchise of platform games.
The game features Mario on a quest to rescue Pauline from Donkey Kong while jumping across platforms and over barrels and other obstacles tossed by Donkey Kong. The game is known not only for introducing Mario and Donkey Kong but also for the revolutionary gameplay that featured the first jumping in platform game history. This particular game's influence on video games and pop culture cannot be denied or underestimated. Without the success of “Donkey Kong,” either in the arcade or this game, Nintendo may not have been successful with their attempt to penetrate the North American market.
This presented sealed copy contains a “Hangtab,” a “NES P DK” code, and a round Nintendo “Seal of Quality,” indicating that this is an early production copy that was produced in early 1987. The single most important platform game in gaming history that introduced two of the most beloved video game characters comes with an overall box grade of 6.0 and a seal rating of B.
