Encapsulated and graded 7.5 with a “First-Party H-Seam” seal rating of A by WATA Games. Offered here is a sealed and graded copy of “Kid Icarus” developed by Nintendo’s Research and Development 1 division in conjunction with Tose for the Nintendo Entertainment System. The action-platform game was released in North America on July 1, 1987, and features the protagonist Pit in his attempt to free the Greek mythology-inspired Angel Land and the Goddess Palutena from the clutches of Medusa. Pit must use his bow and arrow to collect three sacred treasures scattered between the Underworld, Overworld, and Skyworld to restore peace to Angel Land. "Kid Icarus" was released to mixed critical and commercial acclaim; the game is known for its mixture of gameplay genre elements, minimalist yet effective soundtrack, and extreme difficulty. The game sold 1.76 million copies and is now considered a cult classic. Pit would star in the 1991 Game Boy sequel “Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters” and make appearances in various Nintendo titles, but no new game for consoles has ever appeared since this release.
This presented sealed copy features a “Hangtab” and a round Nintendo “Seal of Quality,” all indicators that this copy is a first production that was released in early 1987. There has been talk that there are as little as ten known remaining sealed copies of this cult classic, thus making this sealed copy more desirable and rarer. A sealed copy of one of the rarest cult classics to ever hit the NES with an overall box grade of 7.5 and an attractive seal rating of A that is highly sought-after by collectors.
