Hall of Fame shortstop Cal Ripken Jr. used this Louisville Slugger P72 model bat during the 1996 MLB season. Ripken, in the season after he broke Lou Gehrig’s consecutive games streak, put up a solid Triple Crown slash line of .278/26/102 as the Orioles made a surprising appearance in the American League Championship Series. This bat comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken and has a crack on the handle, while showing outstanding game use. There are ball marks, stitch impressions, white leather scuffs, blue ink transfers and checking or grain swelling from repeated ball contact present on the barrel. Ripken’s number “8” is on the bat’s knob in orange and a piece of tape was applied over that number with “G” in black. Please note that the tape with the "G" is loose but still partially intact. This bat comes with a signed LOA from Cal Ripken, Jr. and a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B19802) for the game use and has been given a very high grade of GU 9.5.
