A complete "Mail Order" set of 1955 Johnston Cookies' Milwaukie Braves cards is presented. A Wisconsin company published cards featuring home-team players for three consecutive years (1953-55), and the productions contributed sublime, early career collectibles of such players as Hank Aaron, Warren Spahn and Eddie Mathews to a small but eager, nascent hobby. The six, 6-card panels holding the '55 issue's full roster of 35 subjects (the card of Andy Pafko appears on two different panels) comprise this offering's seldom-seen content. By 1955, the challenging Johnston regional issue was in its third year, and devotees of the colorful collectibles had pressed the manufacturer to make complete sets more attainable. The result: Johnston made these six "Series" available by mail (for a nickel and a box-top, apiece). The panels have been folded, accordion-style, as intended to facilitate compacting for mailing. Inner cards are barely circulated; two end-segments concede wear, remnants of factory sealing and – on two of the panels – addressing for postal travel.
