In his second at bat of his debut game, Oscar Taveras lived up to his reputation as the Cardinals most promising rookie. Coming up against the Giants in the bottom of the 5th, Taveras hit a Yusmiero Petit offering into the stands for a solo home run. That run would be the difference in St. Louis’ win over the Giants that day. Despite a great rookie year and exciting post season, 2014 would prove to be the young star’s only season in the majors. On the day Game 1 of the World Series began, Taveras and his girlfriend were killed in a tragic automobile accident. This pair of Under Armour batting gloves are a silent reminder of a career that ended before it began. The red, gray and white gloves show great game use and have each been signed by the triumphant rookie on the palm in black ink. Taveras has added the notation “2014 1st HR/Hit” to mark that proud day. He has also inscribed each wrist strap with “1st HR”. 100% of the consignor's proceeds above the minimum bid are being donated to Oscar Taveras' family. Pre-Cert from PSA/DNA.
