The original “Resident Evil” was released in North America on March 22, 1996, to critical and commercial acclaim and sold 2.75 million units, while the “Director’s Cut” offered here and released in September 1997 to compensate for the delay of “Resident Evil 2,” sold 2.33 million copies. The game features Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, members of the elite S.T.A.R.S. task force investigating the outskirts of Raccoon City after several of their team members disappeared. The duo becomes stuck in a mansion infested with zombies and other horrors and must fight for their very survival while uncovering a nefarious plot by the Umbrella Corporation, who are conducting biomedical research. The game is known for its haunting atmosphere, low ammunition availability, and for reintroducing zombies into mainstream culture.

The presented copy features water damage and rust on the manual staples. The “jewel” case features a “Made/Printed in U.S.A.” label and a pixelated “M” rating label from the ESRB on the case.
