A contender to find his way into the Hall of Fame, Mike Piazza was undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best, offensive catchers the game has ever seen. The 10-time Silver Slugger winner hit 396 of his 427 career home runs while serving as a backstop, which is a Major League record. This 1998 game-used black button-down Piazza jersey comes from his first season playing in New York. “Mets” is scripted across the front of the jersey in blue on white-and-orange tackle twill, with “PIAZZA” across the back and his number “31” on both sides in matching style. A Mets logo patch is stitched on the left sleeve of the jersey, which boats an “AIS” manufacturer’s tag on the center of the inside back tail. It is there that size “50” and “L” are indicated.
