The late Tony Gwynn, an eight-time NL batting champion who earned 15 All-Star nominations and five Gold Glove awards, was an easy choice as a first-ballot Hall of Famer in 2007. Gwynn, a career .338 hitter, once donned this San Diego Padres button-down home jersey, which dates back to the 2000-01 seasons. “PADRES” appears across the chest with Gwynn’s retired number “19” on the back in navy blue on white-and-orange tackle twill. “GWYNN” appears across the back of the jersey in navy blue tackle twill. The left sleeve of the jersey boasts a San Diego Padres Baseball Club patch, while the front tail has a Russell Athletic manufacturer’s tag, size 48, and additional tag that reads “2” EXTRA LENGTH” indicating size modifications. An unidentified patch has been removed from the right sleeve. The game-used jersey comes with an LOA from noted jersey expert Dave Miedema.
