No other author of British literature is more respected or widely read as Charles Dickens. Dickens wrote 15 major novels and countless short stories. His seminal work "A Christmas Carol has influenced the celebration of Christmas worldwide for generations and the characters he created have live on almost 140 years after he passed away – David Copperfield, Bob Cratchit, Oliver Twist, the Artful Dodger, Mr. Scrooge… This 1866 dated stamped frank envelope dates from the period just after his two most monumental works, “A Tale of Two Cities” and Great Expectations” were published and just before his triumphant tour of the United States. Executed in black fountain pen, the envelope is addressed is in the author’s hand to an individual associated with Bristol College at a Manchester, England address. Dickens signature is vintage framed in a handsome display that includes a large 8x10 portrait illustration tastefully accented in an oval matte. This is an historic artifact from one of literature's greatest literary writers. Framed to 15 ½” X 20 ½”. Letter of Authenticity from JSA.
