The Washington Nationals franchise was struggling to get over the hump six years into their move to the nation’s capital, which came in 2005. In 2011, Davey Johnson was named manager and the next season Washington was facing the Giants in the National League Division Series. This signed, game-used dugout jacket comes from Johnson’s three-year tenure directing the Nationals. Johnson signed the right chest of the polyester jacket in bold, silver sharpie along with the inscription “Game Used.” The navy blue jacket with red sleeve accents features “Washington” across the chest in white on navy blue and red tackle twill. The jacket, which is lined with grey fleece, features a white and red stitched “W” logo on the left sleeve and “Majestic” manufacturer’s logo patch on the right sleeve. Johnson’s number “5” is handwritten in black sharpie on the Majestic manufacturer’s tag found on the inside collar of the size large jacket. The jacket shows light evidence of game use, including what appears to be a series of chewing tobacco stains on the “Washington” emblem on front of the jacket. The Johnson signed and game-used jacket is PSA/DNA certified, number “X90291.”
