In his first summer of pro ball after his defection from Cuba, Jose Abreu blazed a trail through the AL like no other. The Cuban import was voted both the AL's Player AND Rookie of the Month for both April and July, something no one had ever done before. Abreu was voted to the AL All-Star squad and finished the season with a .317 average and 37 homers - a White Sox rookie record. Not surprisingly he was unanimously named the AL Rookie of the Year for 2014. The White Sox first baseman wore this jersey during the June 12, 2014 loss to Detroit. The classic Sox white pinstripes has "Sox" in black and silver tackle twill Old English letters on the left chest and Abreu's number "79" on the right. The Majestic Cool Base label is found in the lower left front tail upon which MLB hologram HZ111271 is affixed. Below is a white strip tag with "14 52 S4" embroidered in black. The right sleeve has the silver, black and white "DJR" diamond in honor of David J. Reinsdorf, son of White Sox and Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf. The back features "ABREAU" and "79" in black and silver tackle twill sewn directly to the jersey.
