The addition of Pete Rose was the final piece the Phillies needed to win their first ever World Championship. Called the "Cardiac Kids" for their penchant for coming oh-so-close to blowing games, the Phillies boasted a virtual All-Star team with Greg Luzinski, Bob Boone, Tug McGraw and future Hall of Famers Mike Schmidt and Steve Carlton. Thus loaded, the Phil's defeated the heavily-favored Kansas City Royals in six games. Besides the afore mentioned stars, this ball collects a total of 27 players including Bake McBride, Bob Walk, Dallas Green, Larry Bowa, John Vukovich, and of course, Pete Rose. The William White Official National League ball shows nice toning from age and the signatures are all in a strong black or blue ball point. There is indications that the part of the ball signed by Vukovich has been whited-out to conceal additional signatures over which the Phillies' star utility man has signed his name. Letter of Authenticity V13711 from PSA/DNA.
