Much-beloved Davey Lopes has played, coach, or managed in the majors since 1972. The speedster stole 557 bases in 671 career attempts (an 83% success rate!) and once swiped 38 straight without getting caught. A four-time All Star and one-time Gold Glove winner, Lopes played in 4 World Series, racking up 3 HRs in the '78 losing effort and stealing 4 bases in the '81 triumph. In 1974, he set a Dodgers record with 15 total bases—3 homers, a double and a single. Throughout the 1990s and up through the present day, Lopes has been a devoted coach in Baltimore, San Diego, Washington, Philly and LA, as well as manager in Milwaukee (2000-2002). These championship rings and other items in the Davey Lopes collection come with his signed LOAs.
It was Lopes' penultimate season with the reigning-champion Phils, who sought a back-to-back dynasty but could not overtake the Jeter-led Yankees. A hefty, substantial showpiece, this Herff Jones 14K-white-gold, size 10-1/2 ring features a bed of diamonds, then diamonds for the bases, plus diamonds for the "00" in "2009." Near Mint condition. Accompanied by an elegant "Philadelphia Phillies 2009 National League Champions" wooden presentation box, plus Lopes' signed LOA reading, "This is my one and only original 2009 National League Championship ring while coaching for the Philadelphia Phillies. We lost to the New York Yankees that year in 6 games."
