This fantastic looking program from the 1929 World Series played between the Chicago Cubs and the Philadelphia Athletics features a wonderfully colorful Art Deco front cover with the Athletic’s manager Connie Mack and the Cubs manager Joe McCarthy on its cover. The program is in excellent condition with minimal edge wear. The binding of this program is held together by a decorative orange tassel which adds to the uniqueness of this vintage piece. Inside this fast paced program are small black & white photographs of players from both clubs. The scorecard inside is filled out and is surrounded by various advertisements selling everything from beer to soda. The back cover features a terrific color rendering of Wrigley Field with fans enjoying the festivities of this fall classic. This series is remember for the famous, “Mack Attack,” (named after Athletic’s manage Connie Mack), in which the A’s dug themselves out of an eight run hole by scoring ten runs in the bottom of the seventh during Game 4 to edge out the Cubs. The Athletics went on to defeat the Cubs 4 games to 1 to win the 1929 World Series. The program is scored and is a strong EX-MT condition.
