He is most remembered for his historic home run with the New York Yankees in the 1978 AL East tiebreaker game, and he is still referred to in various terms – most of which are unprintable – by fans of the vanquished Boston Red Sox. But there was life before the spunky shortstop cleared the Green Monster at Fenway, and this item proves it. Offered here is Dent’s hat from the start of his Major League career, circa 1973-75, with the Chicago White Sox. The red (yes, red) Wilson cap has a leather band, and shows a great deal of use. Dent’s uniform number 30 is written under the brim in black marker, beneath which is inscribed his name along with “Best Wishes.” This is a great piece of early memorabilia from a diminutive player who made a giant impact with one swing. Comes with MEARS LOA and JSA LOA
