Professional golfers Byron Nelson and Ben Hogan are two of the sports all-time greatest players. Nelson is a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame and he is a recipient of the PGA Tour Lifetime Achievement Award. Hogan, during his playing career, won all 4 major golf championships and is also a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame. This framed golf piece features a large black and white photograph of both Nelson and Hogan on the golf course which is accompanied by a plaque along the right side entitled, “The Hogan Years.” It makes mention of Hogan’s 1953 season reading in part, “Ben Hogan became the only golfer ever to achieve the Triple Slam, victories in the Masters, U.S. Open and British Open in the same year.” The plaque also speaks of Hogan’s rival and friend Byron Nelson who called Hogan, “the man who could play for glory better than anyone I’ve ever seen.” Both golfers signed individual First Day covers in black ink and Hogan’s is postmarked September 22, 1981, Pinehurst, N.C. and Nelson’s is postmarked April 7, 1977, Augusta, G.A. This framed and matted piece measures 33-1/4 x 29-1/4” and comes with an authentication sticker from JSA (L92635).
