Wally Pipp was a MLB first baseman who won a World Series Championship with the New York Yankees in 1923. He is considered one of the best power hitters in the dead ball era and he was a two time American League home run champion. Pipp today is best remembered as the player who lost his starting job to Lou Gehrig at the beginning of Gehrig’s streak of playing in 2,130 consecutive games. This 3x5 index card is signed by Wally Pipp in blue ball point ink. On the back of the index card written in pencil is, “1965.” Encapsulated by PSA/DNA 83779382 - Graded: Authentic.
