Perhaps not the most noted name in history, Luther Burbank made a significant contribution that flourishes today. The agricultural pioneer developed what was known as the Burbank Potato in the 1870s, and his product was introduced to Ireland to help combat the blight epidemic. It eventually became known as the Russet Burbank potato, notable among other uses as the exclusive spud used in the French fries of a certain Golden Arched fast food chain. This black and white image is signed by Burbank in flowing fountain pen, “Sincerely yours, Luther Burbank, Santa Rosa, Calif. Dec 1st 1917.” Comes with PSA Letter of Authenticity #X03897.
