Two of the definitive shortstops of their eras; first there was Cal Ripken Jr. who burst on the big league scene in 1981 and began his record breaking streak of 2,632 consecutive games played on May 30, 1982. Then there was Derek Jeter who broke into the big leagues on May 29, 1995, 13 years into Ripken’s streak, the pair’s careers overlapped when they were American League Eastern division rivals for the first seven years of Jeter’s career and the last seven of Ripken’s. Along the way to two became friendly and developed a mutual admiration and appreciation for each other’s skills and style. This 20” x 24” color photo of the pair sharing a moment at second base in a game at Oriole Park captures the respect and esteem that had for each other, is signed by the pair in bold black sharpie and comes with a Steiner Sports Memorabilia COA.
