Dwight D. Eisenhower has had a storied military and political career. He was a five-star general in the U.S. Army during World War II and he was the Supreme Allied Commander in charge of invading Europe. Eisenhower was elected President of the United States in 1953 and during his administration he built the interstate highway system and he focused on reducing Cold War tensions. This sterling silver wine charger was presented by Eisenhower and his wife to his former personal secretary and her husband. It measures 4.5” in diameter and weighs four ounces. Engraved in the center of the wine charger it reads, “Helen and Harold North/From/The President and Mrs. Eisenhower.” Item shows signs of tarnishing and there are mounting remnants on the base.
