When The Babe wasn't playing baseball he could be found playing his other favorite sport - golf. The Babe took up the game back in 1915 and continued almost religiously up to his final years. When he retired after the 1935 season he claimed to play 365 rounds a year - in fact he played so often that besides being recognized as the most famous ballplayer in the country he was also the most famous golfer as well! In 1939 The Babe was part of a team that represented Long Island against New Jersey and Westchester County for the annual Stoddard Cup. After 9 holes the Long Island team was all but out of it but Babe Ruth was able to reach down deep and play championship quality golf the last 9 holes to lead his team to the Cup. Simply put, The Babe was a winner at any sport he played. This superb 5" x 6" golf scorecard is from the Bayside Links on Long Island and Ruth has signed the interior in bold dark pencil (10/10). The scorecard's natural fold runs through the trail of Ruth's "h" but this takes nothing from the flawless quality of his signature. The card has very light toning from age with no creases except the bi-fold. Letter of Authenticity from JSA.
