The original playboy himself, Hugh Hefner, is the founder of the American adult magazine, Playboy. Getting his start working for Esquire, he soon left to launch his own magazine set to feature monthly interviews of celebrities, musicians, politicians and the iconic centerfolds we all know of today. Playboy’s first ever issue featured Marilyn Monroe of the front cover, which helped launch the magazine, and saw it become a staple of pop culture and adult entertainment. This 1944 10th Anniversary Silver Streak Steinmetz High School Yearbook features Hugh Hefner in numerous photos that depict Hefner involved in various school activities surrounded by his fellow classmates such as on p. 100, photo captioned, “Fall semester officers and board, H. Hefner, Vice President.” Hef was the Yearbook artist, thus many of his earliest known drawings appear throughout this book. The yearbook shows wear along the binding.
