This scarce artifact is an original campaign poster featuring President Theodore Roosevelt from his 1904 campaign for the Presidency after assuming the Office of President following the 1901assasination of President McKinley. The handsome poster measures 14.5 X 20 and features a large photo engraved portrait of President Roosevelt with his name printed below. The paper poster has been preserved with mounting on a light textile backing. Roosevelt is famous for leading the Rough Riders to defeat the Spaniards in the Cuban fought battle of San Juan Hill for which Roosevelt was nominated for the Medal of Honor, which he posthumously received in 2001. In a life devoted to public service he later became Governor of New York State, Vice President of the United States and following President McKinley's assassination, became the youngest President of the Nation's history. Roosevelt easily won his election for his second term in Office in 1904 but was later unsuccessful in his attempt for a third term in Office running in the Progressive Party, a movement credited to him.
