This magnificent original sepia team photograph of the 1932 World Champion New York Yankees actually hung in Yankee Stadium until its renovation in 1973. This dramatic stadium relic measures a staggering 35 X27 and is still mounted to the original Stadium mat-board. The full team is posed before the reserved seating section picturing everyone, including Manager Joe McCarthy, Earl Combs, Lefty Gomez, Red Ruffing, Bill Dickey, Tony Lazzeri, and of course the unmistakable Babe Ruth, and Lou Gehrig both posed in the middle row standing one person apart. "N. Y. Yankees World Champions 1932," is printed along the bottom right in one-inch letters and lettering that identifies the photographer, Cosmos Sileo Co., NY; appears on the bottom left. The Yankees swept the Chicago Cubs in four games for the World Championship but not before Babe Ruth hit a home run in Game 3 of the series played at Wrigley Field that has become part of American baseball folklore. While at bat being taunted by the Cubs fans and player dugout, Ruth made what appeared to be a pointing gesture with his baseball bat and with the next pitch proceeded to hit a home run in the direction of where many witnesses believe he "called his shot." This incredible one-of-a kind artifact that is over three quarters of a century old has experienced some light professional restoration. It is worth noting that a similar photograph of the 1928 New York Yankees team also having hung in Yankee Stadium sold at a major sports auction for a winning bid in excess of $35,000. Framed.
