Like most of us late in his life the great Ty Cobb was spending more time and becoming more familiar with his doctors as evidenced by this casually toned hand-written letter contained with its envelope addressed to “Mr. Evan (Doctor) Morris Stirrup Window Post Office, Menlo Park California, post marked “September 3, 6-AM, 1956,” by Cobb’s “Menlo Park, California” residence post office. On a 7” x 10 ½” sheet of personalized “Tyrus R. Cobb 48 Spencer Lane, Atherton Menlo Park, California” stationery Cobb wrote penned a brief letter to his doctor in green marker writing “Sunday” on the upper right corner and beginning on the opposite left side: “Dear Morris; I am leaving tomorrow Labor Day, for the Lake, so will you order my mail (first class) to be forwarded to Glenbrook, Nevada until I advise differently, will see you upon return from your trip, Regards Tyrus R. Cobb.” The personalized stationery envelope contains Cobb’s name and address on its back fold and has a three-cent Statue of Liberty stamp on the front. Letter remains in very good condition and comes with PSA/DNA LOA certification # E4489
