During the Silver Age of Big Little Books (mid-1938 into the 1940s), Whitman issued three different series of penny books. The first series contained three different sets; this was their inaugural release (#1100A). Measuring approximately 2-1/2" x 3-1/2", these books contained a total of 32 pages. The titles include: Alley Oop, Dan Dunn Plays a Lone Hand, Dan Dunn Secret Operative 48, Dick Tracy Gets His Hand, Dick Tracy The Detective, Don Winslow U.S. Navy, Freckles and His Friends, G-Men and The Missing Clues, G-Men On The Job, Ken Maynard Six-Gun Law, Little Orphan Annie Gets Into Trouble, Little Orphan Annie Saves Sandy, Smilin' Jack, Smokey Stover, Advetures of Terry and the Pirates, Terry and the Pirates On Their Travels, The Texas Ranger In The West and The Texas Ranger To The Rescue. These books are in stunningly high grade condition and appear to be in unread condition.
