The Spirit of St. Louis, Charles Lindbergh’s autobiographical account of his ground breaking 1927 solo trans-Atlantic flight, was published in 1953 and awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Biography or Autobiography the following year. Published by Charles Scribner’s Sons, this 1st Edition has a blue cloth hardcover, with a simple silver outline of an airplane the only image gracing the front cover. Inscription and signature on the inner title page, beneath the title and author, reads: ”To (unknown) With Best Wishes From Charles A.Lindbergh, August 1953.” Beneath the publication date at the bottom of the same page, Lindbergh has included an inscription reading “Publication Date is Sept. 14th”. Book has some minor discoloring on front cover and spine. This signed book is accompanied by a 3 ½”X5 ½” photograph of the signed page, as well as a NY Times article dated from August 30,1970 titled “Lindbergh says U.S. ‘Lost’ World War II”, by Alden Whitman. This item comes with a LOA from JSA.
