About as fine a single signed ball you will ever find from the man who
topped Babe Ruth's home run record. Maris was an up and coming slugger
with Kansas City when he was traded to the Yankees. Once he put the
pinstripes on his slugging percentage soared and suddenly he was held in
the regard as teammate Mickey Mantle. The two men battled for the home
run title in the summer of '61 but it was Maris who emerged the victor.
The pressures of fame and debilitating injuries took their toll on the
quiet slugger and he was sent to the Cardinals where he led St. Louis to
two World Series’ in 1967 and 1968. Single-signed balls from Roger Maris
are hard to come by for a few reasons: he was a very private man who
made few public appearances and he passed away at the young age of 51, a
mere 24 years after his great 1961 feat. The home run king has signed
the sweet spot in crisp blue ball point pen. The unmarked baseball is in
outstanding condition, the leather clean and creamy white upon which
Maris' blue ball point signature stands out. This is one of the finer
Roger Maris single signed balls in the hobby and the cornerstone of any
Maris collection. Letter of Authenticity (Z00110) from PSA/DNA.
