Hank Greenberg was one of the premier sluggers of the 1930's. The first Jewish baseball star, Greenberg was a hero to millions especially when he challenged Babe Ruth's single season home run record in 1938. Twice he won his league MVP Award and led the AL in home runs four times. The big first baseman was the driving force behind four Detroit pennant winners and two world championships, then, after his playing days were over, Greenberg re-invented himself as a successful baseball executive. He passed away in 1986, just before baseball autograph shows became all the rage so his signature is regrettably scarce - a single-signed ball being the scarcest. This is one offered here is a flawless exception. With the notation of "Best Wishes", Hank has signed the sweet spot of this 1970's era Lee MacPhail American League ball in felt tipped pen. The ball is a pristine creamy white and the Spalding markings are clear and crisp. Greenberg's signature has lightened a bit with age but grades out at an 8/10. Letter of Authenticity from JSA.
